Mood stabilizers generally aren't enough for me to deal with symptoms of depression. Lamictal is supposed to be "great" for bipolar depression, but it's really not that strong of a med, if you have depression (unipolar or bipolar) you really should try antidepressant therapy. But I know it's hard to find an antidepressant that doesn't have a lot of crappy side effects. I'm not familiar with the med you mentioned...I've been having really good success with mirtazapine lately...it doesn't have the side effects like the SSRIs do...
Some pdocs think antidepressants are bad to use in bipolar patients...but what else are you supposed to do if the mood stabilizers aren't enough? Is there even a mood stabilizer that exists that works really good on depression? Seroquel maybe?
I think Lamictal+antidepressant is a good combo, for unipolar or bipolar... herpills
