i'm on 60mgs with lamictal, this combo does stablize me but still it doesnt stimulate the dopamine receptors as Ritilin and Adderall do....if i didnt abuse my dexedrine i would of been much better off....my parents will not let me take it because they know the abuse will start, but enough of that, i know i am addict, i go to NA meetings, and have read extensily on addiction, and substance abuse. And i am more substance abuse catagory, i was ripped of Xanax and Dexedrine together, that hell i went through for 2 months, both the psychological withdrawl, im not trying to say poor me, but that was one awful time in my life.
But back to what i was saying, does anyone know if prozac can play a treatment for ADD with lamictal? it does stablize the mood, but not so much the hyperfocus, it actually keeps me from hyperfocus....espcially with the zyprexa....
the only way i can get away from all this, is if i have money income and see the previous doctor that discharged me....i know for a fact i am an addict, but what im trying to say, it's been hell with out ADD medication, i have been floathing with no direction or motivation....
can anyone give me any encouragement, you do know i am addict, i am not going to hide that. Yet being ripped off xanax and dexedrine, i had to learn to do without it, both psychally and psychology...
this is just....i wished i could start again....people view me low, i've posted here about substance abuse and looked down on me. But the fact that i've given up, and decided to help people here on babble....that is something im offering
well enough with yak yak, does prozac have beneficial effects, because i do realize it does somewhat with the mood to stay focused

Hi RJ,
SSRIs such as fluoxetine (Prozac) are not usually helpful for ADD. Have you tried any of the 'non addictive' ADD meds such as Strattera or off-label desipramine?

Have you tried any of the 'non addictive' ADD meds such as Strattera or off-label desipramine? From what I have seen, Strattera is a great drug to treat ADD and the mild depression that can go along with it. You really need to be sure that ADD is present in order for Strattera to be of much use. Historically, imipramine and desipramine were used to treat adult ADD. Desipramine is a reasonable choice, but I would still choose Strattera first.
