Only ones that worked for me for years were low dose benzos. As in the beginning panic attacks. Valium and Miltown were like magic!!! Phillipa

Babbler,
Haven't you had any luck with any meds? I thought you were either on Nardil or thinking about taking it.
I am fairly skeptical of most AD, AP meds. I think they may work for the less seriously depressed and the ones of us with severe resistent depression either need a brain transplant (LOL), TMS or something more invasive. Who knows perhaps we have had a viral infection or stroke of some type (even in utero) of our brain and there is damage beyond fixing simply with meds. They know so little about this stuff but may be getting closer as the technology and research advances. What is your depression/med history?

My drugs work, although I have not achieved full remission yet. I imagine you find it as difficult to disregard your own personal experiences as it is for me to disregard mine.

standard S/NRIs have not worked well for me. However, mirtazapine and ritalin have been helpful.
I think that SSRIs work better for women.

I'm still having good success with minocycline + abilify for treatment resistant depression. Just saying.

how fast did you feel kick in from the minocycline

> how fast did you feel kick in from the minocycline
Three days. It was impressive. However, I needed to titrate the dose up slowly to get to 100 mg. So it was a month or two before I was comfortably tolerating a useful dose and got consistent benefit. I am, however, extraordinarily sensitive to medications. So other people might not need to titrate up like I did. I think little is known about the use of minocycline in practice, so it's going to be trial and error.
I am not 100% immune to relapse even with the minocycline. However, over the course of a year, the random nature of my illness has been greatly reduced - I don't seem to get relapses that occur out of the blue now. So far I'm very pleased.
Are your doctors interested in trying this for you?
