I used to take my 20mg of Lexapro at night as it made me tired, but I began taking it first thing in the morning as of 3 months ago based on my pdoc's suggestion (which some babblers agreed with, too).
I've been experiencing a lot of lethargy when I awake and can barely move from bed in the morning. I drag myself around until late afternoon, when I'm finally awake (but still tired).
Any suggestions? Does it make sense to take Lexapro at night? Does when you take it make a difference one way or another in the scheme of things (I also take 50mg of Tramadol in the morning, and 2mg of Ativan with 100mg of Seroquel at night).
Thanks and I hope all you other babblers are faring well.

No take it the way it works best for you. Sounds like night is time for you to take it. Then you have more energy right? Phillipa

I know someone who takes 20mg Lexapro and splits the dose, taking 10mg in the morning and 10mg at night.

Do you feel that splitting the dose keeps the levels more steady even though it's supposed to work for a full 24 hours? Phillipa

Thanks for the input thus far. As of last night, I've been taking it before bed. We'll see...

hi p-
aside from the excessive fatigue, i'm doing well, and yes, getting out.
i have any appointment w/ my pdoc next weds and will address it with him then. it's definitely a different "type" of tired than the exhaustion i feel when depressed, so of course that's good, but it's still problematic. i really don't want to add on any more rx's, but maybe an amphetamine or something similar would at least jump-start my engine. exercise certainly would, but i'm too damn tired to do it!
how are you? hope you're doing well =)!

The time of day that lexapro is taken can indeed make a big difference. The problem is, no one knows what your best time of day is for lex, not even you, so you will have to experiment to find out. It's not somebody's else's best time, because that was them, not you.
Do a week at 9am.
Do another week at noon.
Do another week at 3pm.
And so on...hopefully in these trials you will find a favorite time.
The way you dose it can make a difference too. Some people will do better with twice a day or up to four times a day dosing, of smaller doses to equal the current total dose, they'll do better that way than with a single daily dose. Some might argue it shouldn't matter because the half life is 24 hours. Well, that's true, but doesn't change a thing, the way it is dosed does make a difference and sometimes a huge difference and we don't know why just that it is so.

thanks bleauberry.
like with all all meds, i'm sure when we take it varies a lot per the individual.
i started taking it as one dose, at night, before i go to sleep. it's been ok (not much different, but fine) this way, and because i take most of my meds at this time, it easy to remember and stay consistent.
thanks again for your input and hope you're well.
