Hi, has anyone found a good way to turn off or interrupt those crying jags that seems to last forever?
Thank you,
Roslynn

Roslynn, I have been thinking about crying jags lately. I cant cry anymore, I miss my crying jags. I take clonazepam .5mg at night only. Crying always made me feel cleansed, better. I did have a brief, heavy cry when my son left for college, none since. I want to cry!

I haven't cried in a long time. The last time I really cried it was over the passing of my beloved cat, Tabitha. And I agree with you. Crying is cathartic.

I also cried, for days and days, over the death of my little dog. But that was 2009, and then once when son left home. I do have to admit to sobbing while watching "Hachi". I really want to cry over just life going by, things ending, etc. and I try to muster it up, and it just doesnt happen now...

Well unless I'm in a major depressive episode, Lexapro has made it pretty impossible for me to cry now. I think that's the case with all SRIs. They tend to numb you.

I think this overrides the emotional part of the brain.

Great idea, Deneb! I do the same thing with anxiety.
When I'm really upset, something as simple as counting backwards from a hundred helps. Or a simple game like Bubbles or Bejeweled, set at noncompetitive level.

Yes. For me, PRN perphenazine (for example, starting with 2 mg) usually calms me down from the crying episodes. It can be sedating for me, though. (I take 6 mg in the evening daily, then _can_ take more as needed, but I seldom make use of the PRN option.) Or, Zyprexa Zydis (immediate-release) offered help to me when I was inpatient. I think PRN Risperdal can offer such aid as well, though I have not been on it.
This is the end of the thread.
