Lexapro namebrand tier 4 med now Forrest Generic?

Posted by Phillipa on April 4, 2013, at 14:17:19

Two pharmacies later found out that now Lexapro is considered a tier 4 med and is made by Forrest. Heard Forrest doesn't have a generic company so why would a company lose all their sales as per pharmacists I am the one one out of 2000 in the pharmacy still paying for brand and the cost is $99 for all tier 4 meds. Escitalopram has been generic in Australia for a few years now, are you sure there isnt a generic avaliable in the US, even if made by a different manufacturer?

Branded drug manufacturers pay-off generic drug manufacturers to delay the release of the generic version of the branded drug.

I am not particularly cynical nor inclined to use the term "Big Parma" pejoratively, but this is seriously f_cked-up.

Scott I know spent a lot of time at two pharmacies trying to sort it out. So this is how they make money once generic as Forrest doesn't seem to make generic. Phillipa

Phillipa, given the very high cost, I'd be inclined to try the generic and see if it works for you - for most people, most of the time, a generic is just as good. Even if you had to increase the dose by a small margin to achive the same effect, it would still seem to be worth doing

Will have to see how finances are. Right now will continue the Brand. But not taking much so one month lasts for four months. Phillipa
