As many here know, I'm sorta washing out my meds (I became ill and couldn't hold anything down, so I was off them abruptly for five days or so).
I'm meeting w/ a new pdoc next week who has an excellent reputation, and along with med management, he does TMS and Ketamine injections at his office.
I've been on many meds, different types, etc., but stayed on Lexapro because it kept my depression and anxiety somewhat at bay on a daily basis. It never prevents episodes.
I don't want to walk into my new pdoc's office w/ all types of ideas; I'd like him to evaluate me like a blank slate and go from there. (Of course I'll list what I've been on and negative and positive reactions, but I don't want to dictate the meeting.)
One thing though: I notice few people take Cymbalta here. I remember being on it briefly about 7 years ago but don't remember much. The thing is, I have intense leg pain--throbbing--all day long, and I like the idea of my antidepressant addressing this. I know some tricyclics can be good for pain too.
I've even been considering Nardil (the only MAOIs I tried were Emsam--too stimulating--and Moclobemide, which did nothing).
So I'm keeping an open mind and I'm not scared to ditch Lexapro, but I'd love some input.
Thanks all.

You could take Lexapro + nortriptyline
This is a very effective antidepressant combo (it hits noradrenalin, seretonin, and the 5HT2A receptor), it would also help with the pain.

Thoughts?
I need a major AD, an anxiolytic and something that will help the pain in my legs.

Don't think it really matters, but Cymbalta has been FDA appoved to help pain. Of course, that just means the maker of Cymbalta bothered to pay for studies to prove that it worked. I believe most SSRIs and TCAs and SNRIs help pain.
I wonder, does Remeron help pain? It is certainly a good anxiolytic and antidepressant.I really sympathize with bryn. Since my Rhabdo almost destroyed my kidneys I will never be able to take ibuprofen again. and tylenol is like a sugar pill. Sigh.

If you need a stronger pain relelver than Tyeleno, and the antiinflamatories are out, then it would seem appropriate for you to have access to a tylenol/codeine compound for use when plain tylenol doesnt cut it.
If you arnt taking an SSRI type drug, you could get a script for tramadol, and take two tylenol and two tramadol for a strong analgesic combo that has very low potential for dependence

I just saw my PCP a couple of days ago; I should have asked her about it b/c my knee is busted and I'm in a lot of pain. And tylenol is like a sugar pill to me. But next week I'm seeing an orthopaedist about my knee, and I bet you he'll have no problem giving me an rx for something that will help. And Tramadol is an excellent idea b/c it could potentially help my depression, which is not well-controlled right now. Thanks again.
How's the anxiety monster treating you these days?

"How's the anxiety monster treating you these days?"
Not bad, I'm taking Zoloft 200mg om, Edronax 4mg bd, Xanax 1mg 2-3 times a day and risperidone 1mg qhs and am feeling pretty good - I plan to make sure that I keep the xanax down to 2mg per day except in extremis, its easy to take that third pill, but I want to keep somthing in reserve for the occasional bad day.
Re the pain killers, I found that taking 2 x Acetaminophen and 2 x 50mg tramadol gave excelent pain relief after surgery without the awful drugged feeling that morphine gave (I was prescribed IM morphine, but it made me feel so awful that I asked if i could just take oral pain releif instead) the tramadol/acetaminophen combo releived the pain as well as morphine without turning me into a drug f*ck*d zombie
