Just out of interest has anyone used phenobarbital to detox from a benzo? Or gaba-b affecting substances like phenibut or baclofen?
Thinking that if used with ndma agonist like namenda tolerance to phenibut or baclofen would propably not rise so fast.

yes! phenobarbital is a helpful way to detox from benzos--I've used it to detox in the past alone (which I don't suggest) or as a prn w Valium. I'm not sure how the dosing is figured out, but I'm sure you could work w/ your doc on that...

it is not a euphoric drug....i've already done reserach on it a couple years ago...its gonna give an effet similar to alcohol expect with no euphoria...its good and calming but it sure can make some people depressed and it lasts for a long time in the body...

the half-life of phenobarb is pretty long (maybe 3-5 days, sometimes even longer), so a bit more than klonopin and valium. it feels similar to benzos (and controls seizures, too). a pdoc i used to see told me it (and barbs in general) is actually cleaner than benzos. (but more toxic, too.) i detoxed successfully from a high dose of klonopin by using valium with phenobarb as a prn. definitely worth a shot.

I think it is typically used in a rehab or medical detox (either alone, which is less common) or as a prn during a benzo detox. it's extremely helpful during a benzo detox! phenobarb cuts the risk of/prevents seizures from coming off benzos, and of course, works wonders for anxiety. I know docs still prescribe it for epilepsy, but not for anxiety--it's too toxic and fatal in large doses (which is why benzos were developed--large doses aren't fatal as they can be with barbiturates). that said, phenobarb is a decent med! still waiting for that magic pill for anxiety to be created--one where dependence and addiction isn't a risk. For now, breathing and meditation helps, and when all else fails, the occasional benzo.

You do not need barbituates to get off benzos if your psychiatrist knows what he's doing. The trick is to be slow at the very end of the taper, as it's the last amount of the benzo that's the challenge, not like going from 3mg to 2mg, or 2mg to 1mg.
