I can't sleep. However, every "sleep med" that I have tried results it substatially worse mood the next day. I hate taking them for the fear of feeling worse the next day.
I don't want to take seroquel, mirtazapine, amitriptyline. I throw away 3/4 of the day by doing so.
So, I'm stuck. Benzos, sedating AD's, AP's, you name it, its all the same crap. No solutions.

Have you tried triazolam (Halcion), it is pretty short acting, and should have worn off by the following morning.

LinkageYes, that seems to be the current state of sleep meds. Sonata (yes, one those 'Z' drugs) was the best for next day mood. It quit on me.
There is baclofen, zanaflex. Not exactly knock outs. Less harmful to sleep arcitecture, maybe. Zanaflex was actually mood enhancing. Go figure.

Your feeling worse might be a temporary effect of retarding your circadian rhythm - with or without sleeping pills. If this is true, you might begin feeling better within 3 days of maintaining a consistent sleep-wake cycle. This retardation of the cycle is just the opposite of the advancing of the clock in sleep-deprivation.
