Years ago, I had wisdom teeth surgically removed under conscious sedation (?). The surgeon later said that I should not opt for sedation in the future because I had a "psychotic episode." Seems I tried to jump out a window in the 18th floor office!
Now I have to have wrist surgery. I am panic stricken. The VERY LAST thing I want to happen is me jumping and jerking while he's working inside my wrist!!!!!!! I MUCH PREFER general anesthesia.
Is this a legitimate concern, and do I have the "right" as a patient to demand general?

Explain to the surgeon and anesthatist what happend last time, and they will probably offer you a general.
Also, keep in mind that they may have better drugs and methos now than they did when you had your episode, so concious sedation might now be a safe option for you.
