Athought on combat of weight gain and constipation

Posted by Lamdage on June 8, 2011, at 7:16:43

I dont know how many of you know this already but i want to share a great strategy with you. (against the two side effects weight gain and constipation)

I just recieved a 4 pound package by mail.. And it is 4 pounds of bulk fiber for like 20 dollars.
I add it to my cereal, i add it when i prepare bread, i will add it to protein shakes. It has 3 great benefits: Youll feel full longer, it is very hard to get constipation if you ingest a solid dosage of fiber, and your gut health will improve which is good for depression and overall health.
Now if you add things like vegetables and salad into the mix.. youll have a much easier time restraining from binge eating. Unfotunately currently in europe theres a nasty bacteria going around and goverments recommend not to eat fresh green stuff. (right now)

I bought the powder from an online store for bakerys.. just make sure you get in in bulk for a fair price

friendly greetings

Lamdage

sugar free gum (sorbitol) helps with constipation in a very gental way.

Thanks for the tip - Nardil has caused both problems (weight gain + constipation) for me in the past so this is something inexpensive to consider if they happen again.

Edfronax has caused me to become a bit..... blocked up.

A glass of Metamucil in the morning, and an occasional dose of Sennokot at night keep things moving

I make a drink to take when i exercise (just pure water doesn't absorb well, and makes me feel bloated), (i eat lots of fiber from legumes and veg so i don't supplement that, but if you don't eat enough, its a good idea.)

Basically like the 'laxative' sold, some magnesium citrate powder, a bit of lemon juice and splenda, and a bit of bicarb. Most people don't get enough magnesium, and its good for depression.

Should be helpful for these issues.

there are different sorts of fiber, and each has different effects. I think a variety of soluble fibres might be important, because it might feed different bacteria, and the diverseity might be better and more robust than just one for various GI health issues (and their effects on general health). Pectin, beta-glucans, etc.

Yes i briefly scratched the surface of the different kinds of fibers. Ive read in the description that mine is supposed to be a good mix and believed them.
Zonked let me know how it goes when you do it!

Ive noticed that my stool became softer, ive hit the can like 3 or 4 times today lol.It helps curbing hunger for me for sure. Youll still need discipline but its noticeable.

Also it would be cool if you kept us posted (and I will try to do the same) about your progress with Nardil since I believe we both (re!)started this med around the same time.

I am crossing my fingers it will do the trick again...

So far, I have none of the typical Nardil side effects except the midday compulsion to nap, which I can't rule out as being caused by Klonopin... sigh.

Depression (in all its flavors) is such a weird illness. If you've learned to mask it well over time, even people who've known you awhile may have no clue how much you suffer internally. I have to remind folks close to me from time to time that I am still suffering immensely, although I don't talk about it as much as I used to. That is, also, I think a learned behavior - people get tired of hearing about it after awhile. :-/

Ill be glad to do that. My Uk Nardil is coming in this friday though, i didnt start it yet.

I will titrate off the Wellbutrin earlier and further than was recommended to me here i think. If i err i want to err on the safe side, i want to have no more than 100mg wellbutrin in my body by the time i take any significant amount of phenelzine.
Id like to have at least someone prescribe me some 5mg nifedipine for my purse. Ill buy a blood pressure device, too.

Its a sad world.. i just called about 10 docs and realize by the covert hostility on the phone that at least 9 of them would do more psychological harm than any med can possibly do good. Doctors on the whole are not people who genuinely want to help.

Wish you the best with nardil!

Peace
