eyelid twitch should i be concerned?

Posted by lifelover on April 13, 2011, at 14:43:05

Hey guys I am currently on 6mg invega, 1200mg lithium, and 200mg of lamictal.. I will soon be starting nardil... For the past week, week and a half I have been experiencing a sporatic eyelid twitch on my top left eyelid.. It usually comes hard on the morning time and then sporaticaly throughout the rest of the day..Should I be concerned?... Is the medication the cause of this? I have been on the lithium almost a year, and the lamictal and invega for over 2 years and I havent had this problem till recently.. What should I do because although its not noticable to other people it definitly is annoying... Ive heard magnesium helps with this is this true? and if so would it help in my case? Any help I would greatly appreciate .... thanks..

If this medication cocktail at these doses have helped to stabilize you in the short term, you may want to consider ways to lower the doses and maybe eliminate or replace one of these medications in the long term. I believe you can do this through experimenting with supplements, proper exercise, proper nutrition(a paleo/primal like diet), and slow methodical weaning. One of your medications or the combined cocktail may or may not be responsible for your eyelid twitch. I do know that stress on the body and mind and lack of proper sleep can cause prolonged eyelid twitching. I've experienced it for long periods of time while on and off medications. When I was 24 and lived in Vail, Colorado for a few months, I had an eye twitch for two weeks straight. Interestingly, this is when I had stopped drinking because I came down with a horrible case of strep throat. When I started drinking almost every night again, the twitching went away.

I should have also said, if you are doing very well on the current cocktail with only minor side effects, you should probably stick with it for a while, at least until you are in a place in your life where you think you are better equipped to make any changes.

Same thing happened to me a while ago. Goggled it and it said nothing to beconcerned about. Eventually it just went away. I do think it was stress related. It's also very annoying. Phillipa

I had that happen to me once for a while. I wasn't on any meds then. I remember looking it up. There's a name for it but I don't remember. Anyway, it's a common enough occurence. Probably not some sort of EPS from the meds.

Had the same thing when starting Seroquel: odd twitching on top of one of my eyelids. But it disappeared in 2-3 weeks. It seems to be some sort of a dopamine effect, maybe, which is transient because Seroquel seemed to improve my EPS.
