I've been having health anxiety lately. I think I have pancreatic cancer because I had yellow poop the other day. Pdoc laughed at me when I told her. I've also been getting a lot of colds this winter, like 4 or 5. I think I may be dying.
Pdoc said I don't have pancreatic cancer because I don't have any symptoms and that the yellow poop was caused by the large amount of nuts I ate the day before. Can this be true? Is she just making stuff up?
Anyways pdoc thinks this latest anxiety is from cognitive distortions and that I should read "Feeling Good" again. She said I did not need to change my meds. Meds weren't the solution, changing my thinking was. I got the new job at work and she thinks this new change is causing anxiety.
What are your thoughts on this? I did skip my meds a couple of days. Is she right? Is this something I just have to think through? Also please help convince me that I'm not dying.

>Why does pancreatic cancer cause yellow stool? Because it blocks the bile duct? If you had such a serious obstruction to the flow of bile you'd be jaundiced (yellow). Before you go looking for minute traces of jaundice, note that another person probably would have noticed if you truly had that problem.

Deneb you mentioned your Pdoc didn't feel you needed to change your meds, what current meds are you taking? have these meds been effective in the past for you?

Thanks for that info. I also found out that pancreatic cancer also causes weight loss and I certainly don't have that. I can't believe I'm happy I didn't lose weight! LOL

I'm taking 30 mg generic Celexa, 60 mg generic Prozac and 0.75 mg generic Risperdal.
I would say that my meds have helped me. But they seem to help more with my mood than the anxiety. My social anxiety is a lot better now, but sometimes I still get a lot of bad thoughts.
I'm pretty happy now and have been for a long time.

I agree with your pdoc I over react and do the same thing when anxiety spirals. I feel you are fine. Great news on a new job. Phillipa

As far as colds go...if all my friends and acquaintances over the years that had 4 or 5 colds in a winter were dying, they all would have been dead years ago! None are. And I know you know that...intellectually. Anxiety, the most nasty form of fear, throws your intellect right out the window :-) But you know that, too!
The common cold, even if you annoyingly had 12 of them in a winter, rarely kills anyone, especially someone young, strong and healthy with a good immune system and no heart or lung problems, such as yourself. Wash your hands a lot, rest, eat well, take your meds...you are safe from death by cold, methinks.
So glad you are feeling well overall :-))
