50 yo male, been taking testosterone for depression for years. No other meds except the occasional 0.5 mg Xanax for sleep.
On a lark I picked up some pramipexole 0.5 mg and have been taking one a day for about a week. Hasn't helped with the mild anhedonia -- which is probably nothing more than the result of a particularly grey winter, BUT I haven't slept better in ages!
The stuff has no effects or side-effects that I can tell, so maybe the sleep is just coincidence, but I doubt it.
Any anecdotal evidence to support my theory?
Thanks.

> Thanks.Sure, there is a lot of evidence that it makes one tired. Its actually the time the drug starts to wear off that it makes one tired. If you look at sites like askapatient.com and read reviews for that drug you will hear people complaining about how it makes them very tired. It has an 8-12 hour half so that is probably what causes this, when the drug wears off later in the day. I wonder what day and evening dosing would do? Cause DA receptor downregulation or just cause insomnia, or both?

I've never noticed any sedation, elation, or any other side-effects from the pram, but then I usually take it around noon.
I'll try dosing on awakening and see if I experience the 'tiredness' you mention.
What brought me to ask you guys is that the *quality* of the sleep seems to have improved remarkably; not that I ever thought it bad to begin with. My only trouble has been *falling* asleep, and I've not noticed any change from that angle.
Thanks for the feedback.

> Thanks for the feedback.Well it is a drug for restless leg disorder, which is supposed to keep people from moving their legs a symptoms which is generally worse at night. Maybe you used to twitch a lot in your sleep and now you're not.

Yeah, Maybe.
I read a number of reports on askapatient and some reported better sleep, at least initially.
(Also lots of gambling and sex)
So you think the sleepiness comes on as the drug wears off?
I've only tried cabergoline (which I don't think I did like) and Trivastal (which I did).

More meaningful, impactful and less conflicted.
If you have any anecdotal observations to add, I'd be most thankful -- not to mention appreciative and grateful.
This is the end of the thread.
