Still on 50mg of luvox, lmg xanax, 5mg of valium and now find I need the 5mg of lexapro but does it cause weight gain as can't afford to gain weight with thyroid already and diabetes in family. Thanks Phillipa

I didn't gain any weight on Lexapro and am on lower dose like you. If you didn't gain weight on Luvox you will probably be OK. herpills

Herpills still taking the 50mg of luvox starting dose and the 5mg of lexapro. Do you notice anything good or bad on the lexapro? Never gained when took first ad paxil at l0mg for two years that one worked. And didn't poop out. Dumb pdoc changed the med why cause he felt like it new meds then coming out all the time. Every take prozac? Phillipa

I've never tried Prozac. I've tried all the other SSRI except Luvox. Couldn't tolerate side effects of Zoloft or Paxil also Zoloft made me manic. Celexa helped but fatigue was an issue. Lexapro is slightly better than Celexa for me, it helps with depression, side effects minimal at 5mg. It's possible I'll have to go up to 10mg if depression worsens as don't really want to increase Lamictal or Abilify, but I know side effects will be worse (insomnia, sexual) herpills

I gained a lot of weight on lexapro. If you want an SSRI thats not as bad, maybe try prozac or zoloft. If you have anxiety in the mix both may or may not be a problem. =(
I was taking a small amount of topamax for awhile that seemed to help with the lexapro munchies.. but looking back maybe it was my depression returning that killed my appetite. Really hard to say.
I can say for certain that 50mg killed my appetite completely, more than any depression could.
lexapro gave me intense cravings for carbs. even wellbutrin and adderall didnt make a dent in the cravings.
Dont go just on my experience.. if youre considering lexapro, Id do it and just keep an eye on your food intake. If its unbearable, you can always stop the drug.

I never had any side effects from lexapro after the first month or so. Lost weight during that first month due to start up nausea and never gained it back. Until I went on abilify.

Thanks have been taking between 2.5mg and 5mg with the luvox 50 and since don't have taste and smell no worries about the munchies. Some say it's metabolic the weight gain on some meds. Luvox never gained. And anxiety inner is an issue. My daughter is on prozac 20mg and lost weight and now is doing great. Phillipa
