I read in a post somewhere on here that clonidine is used to help reduce the crash associated with stimulants like Adderall and Dexedrine.
I take my last dose of Adderall at 3pm and by 10PM I'm physically tired and ready to go to bed - but my heart rate is still kinda fast, my thoughts are still wide awake, etc etc - so I'm wondering if adding this at night would help calm the sympathetic effects of the Adderall and help me get to sleep sooner.
What do you people think? I've tried lowering the Adderall dosage from 20mg to 10mg - but still have the same crash at night.
I want to present this to my pdoc tomorrow -but what I DON'T want is him to either reduce my Adderall or quit it all together. How could I present this to my pdoc without him tinkering with the Adderall?
Thanks in advance!!
Jerry

Jerry- I don't know about clonidine but read a lot about namenda being good for the crash, as well as preventing tolerance and being good for depression and ocd. So I suggested it to my doc and he went for it. Maybe that would work? Sorry, I don't know more about clonidine!

Clonidine is a powerful med to take. I don't know if I would want to take it. Have you tried the Adderall XR version? That is what I take once a day and I don't crash. I crash on ritalin and dexedrine and it's a horrible feeling.

weird - I just did a search here for Clonidine and it is just a recent discussion. What I have read about it sounds like a good add-on to stimulants. But I haven't read any personal experiences.

My insurance doesn't cover the XR version - otherwise it's $400/mo. So I have to get the IR forms which costs me $50/mo.
But I have been on the XR version before and it was great.

Oh I have taken clonidine before actually - prescribed by my pdoc actually for sympathetic effects of anxiety.

Is your doc into trying off-label meds? Mine is but isn't - sometimes he's open to it and sometimes not. Did you have to bring him studies you found on the internet about it helping? Or how did you exactly bring it up to him??
This is the end of the thread.
