Hi,
for those who aren't aware, there's been a lot of interest recently in the use of hallucinogens for treating depression. Studies have reported "super-accelerated psychotherapy"-like effects of just a single dose of MDMA, Ketamine and LSD. It's as if it allows the sufferer to see their issues from a previously-unreachable angle or viewpoint, and once they "get it", they improve dramatically.Anyway, here's the article:
http://health.howstuffworks.com/medicine/tests-treatment/mental-illness-hallucinogens.htmand here's an excellent (and humorous) podcast of the same (How Stuff Works) :
http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/stuff-you-should-know/id278981407BTW I am in no way recommending or suggesting that anyone goes out and gets loaded on these drugs! But, who knows - in 5 or so years they could be the first line treatment for depression...

Lowering oneself deep into the great maze where all things are intermixed, it can be a revelation when consciousness and perception are felt to be blissful and independently arising, with nothing to gain or lose.
It was for me, anyway. Dosage is critical.

Maybe not insights. It's more feelings, I think. Well, what I meant by independent arising is a kind of insight.
I wonder if that is what is meant by Sat Chit Ananda (or whatever it is), or by phrases such as 'the unconditioned'.Years ago there was a line in a Grateful Dead song that referred to it
'Let it be known there is a fountain that was not made by the hands of men'.
This is the end of the thread.
