First I want to introduce myself as a new member and I am female for those who are curious.
I chose the name lamictal because after two years of a depression that has varied in intensity between dysthymia, deep suicidal depression and some incidences of euphoria lamictal has been a godsend to me. The depression and manic incidences have been brought under control. I now wake up with basically a cheerful mood and the manic like euphoria is gone.
So the depression and bipolar thing is mostly controlled by lamictal at 200 mg. Hated the slow titration but started to feel better at 100 mg.
But still suffering from adult add. Is that called adhd? Not sure. Still suffering from panic attacks which are awful. Had one in the car the other day and had to pull over.
So the p-doc and I were talking about adding klonopin. Won't see him for awhile. How about the add thing?
Please I beg the anti med people please I beg you don't try and ruin my thread. I'm not interested in your studies or rants!!
Please I'm just interested in med combose that have helped the above.
Yes I do exercise my Bu@# off and eat vegetarian and take lots of fish oil. Yes I have been doing that for years but that was not enough.
Personally I do understand that these mental health meds are just in their beginning but thank God for lamictal and the scientists who made that med.
So I suffer now from treated depression and bipolar. Untreated add, and those horrible panic attacks.
Sorry for rambling on but maybe that a symptom of add as I really have always had problems with concentration.

Hi lamictal. For panic attacks xanax is the best don't care what others say about addiction and escalating the dose as for me once the panic goes why would you take more? As for add if you had it as a child then you could have it. And then maybe the uppers would calm you down as if true add or adhd that's what they seem to do. Many will have many different answers. I know mine isn't add or adhd as never had it as a child mine is anxiety . Phillipa

I've tried everything in my life. Was 40 years on the alt med road. You've been down one road so you've made a detour. I've been on that road and have also made a detour. We both have the same detination Maxime. I just can't handle it's all this or all that when it's everything in the end.

I don't want this thread to die. Have you spoken to your doctor about possible ADD? The only problem is, is if you treat that with a stimulant, it might make your panic attacks worse. Or, it have the opposite effect which would be good. I take Adderall and it actually has a calming effect on me. Weird I know, but I guess it can happen. Maybe I had ADD and didn't know it because when you give a stim to child with ADD they do calm down and focus.
Were you thinking of adding a stimulant?

Hi Lamictal,
I have add. There is adhd (the h is for hyperactive). Many women have add. It's considered a 'silent' condition in girls because they usually do not act up or act out. Rather, they simply space out.
I also suffer from anxiety. Adding a stimulant gives me mental clarity and, because of that, calmness. However, I have never been manic or really hypomanic.
You also wrote about adding klonopin. Based on my own personal (therefore
unique) experience, two observations:Once benzos are started, they can be tough to discontinue--at least for me. No judgment one way or the other. I've taken varying dosed for awhile now. That said, I found klonopin good for my absolute worse anxiety--the all day, evetyday, practically doubled over kind. Cumulatively, it acted as a depressant. During a bad time recently, I dug out my old bottle and took one. I regretted it.
Xanax cr or extended release work well for me. In an emergency I take regular xanax, but because it is so quick acting, I could build tolerance easy.
Some here have other ways to deal with panic attacks. I think Deneb has a thread going about a med I don't know.
Good luck.

Yes, I also became depressed on Klonopin (I was taking 4 mg) but I didn't know that it was from the Klonopin. It was only when someone wrote on PB that it can be depressant that I decided to come off it. Instead of 4 mg I now take .5 mg. I just can't seem to get rid of that .5 mg without suffering from major withdrawal.

Ain't it the truth? I can get to .25mg xanax but if I miss it through forgetfulness, my mind-body reminds me. If it really mattered, I suppose I could hunker down and withdraw, but frankly, anxiety figures pretty largely in my life. However, I'm not at all convinced I'd be among the Ashton worse cases.
How are you doing today?

I am tired as usual today. I taught a 5 hour class and that usually wipes me out. I am just glad we change the clocks tonight and I will get an extra hour of sleep! YAY!

True, but it is already starting to get dark earlier and earlier anyway. I can only look at the short term! LOL! I get an extra hour of sleep!
This is the end of the thread.
