I've been following this site but I haven't posted before, I am a lot nervous about it! Hello.
So golly, I'm in a pickle and would sure appreciate your thoughts. Well I hope it doesn't sound stupid.I was prescribed Buspirone to help with a lot of anxiety. I have got a family wedding in 4 weeks and I am terrified of side effects if I start the Buspirone, having had very bad reactions to the other meds. It is very taxing for me to see my folks and a tiring trip home. I have to be at my best for this. I sure cant afford to be zonked out or nauseous or anything. I also have got to fit into a bridesmaid dress so I am a little worried about weight gain, my doc mentioned it can happen.
I know Buspirone takes a long time to start working so I'm worried it would also take a while for any side effects to wear off if I stop taking it. So I planned to just wait until after the wedding, but I'm feeling pretty desperate at the moment. Kind of hemmed in, no options are good options if you know what I mean, and I'm not thinking straight, a lot of thoughts about suicide, which is very unlike me. Scares me a bit. I'm thinking I should just take the Buspirone and see if it helps. But honest, my family will make my life not worth living if they suspect anything is wrong and same again if I don't fit in that damn dress!
it may sound a bit shallow but it's stressful. If you knew my folks you would totally get it.
What do you think? What are your experiences with Buspirone?

All psychotropic medications can have adverse effects. Buspirone is a fairly mild antianxiety medication. You didn't mention your dosage, but it usually has little effect under 30mg daily (divided doses). You should probably give a try for a week or two and watch for any adverse effects. You have 4 weeks. If it isn't for you, you should know before then. Good luck to you.

Indeed, buspirone is a mild med. Weight gain on buspiron? Yeah, a meteorite could drop on your head, too, if you know what I'm saying. I'd say go for the buspirone, if it does anything it will do before the wedding, and if it doesn't help, no harm done - it may still help, since nothing beats the placebo effect!
Why don't you take a benzo at the wedding though? Benzo's work (almost) immediately.
This is the end of the thread.
