Bipolars usually need a stabilizer.
Some bipolar people can take stims or antidepressants - maybe without even a stabilizer
Meds of the same class can have completely different effects on some. One SSRI may be a nightmare and one can be a miracle.
Non-bipolars can be helped w/ a stabilizer add-on
Etc.Is there anything at all, symptoms or past med trials, that can shed light on how a body might react to another med?
I wonder how long it will be until medical science can help without all of the trials.

I think part of the problem is that the research (just from what I've seen, as a non-expert) seems to be focused primarily on those with more severe disorders. For instance, there are pretty good treatment recommendations for patients with various forms of Bipolar I, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, and Psychotic Depression. When you start looking at less severe disorders, however, there doesn't seem to be as much good research and so there's not as much for professionals and patients to go on.

I'm starting to feel a lot of the lesser are related to thinking patterns and your breaking point. As my pdoc said for years you dealt with some much and your coping mechanisms broke down. Phillipa
