Always a shot in the dark or history indicators?

Posted by alchemy on September 6, 2010, at 21:13:23

Bipolars usually need a stabilizer.
Some bipolar people can take stims or antidepressants - maybe without even a stabilizer
Meds of the same class can have completely different effects on some. One SSRI may be a nightmare and one can be a miracle.
Non-bipolars can be helped w/ a stabilizer add-on
Etc.

Is there anything at all, symptoms or past med trials, that can shed light on how a body might react to another med?

I wonder how long it will be until medical science can help without all of the trials.
