I have now read quite a few postings online where people with social phobia who have taken ambien say not only does it completely get rid of their social phobia (temporarily), but it is also very prosocial. Have babblers experienced this also? If so, how long does that effect last?

Just to clarify, the accounts I have seen regarding Ambien for social anxiety are not from people who used it strictly as a sleeping aid. Rather, they would use Ambien and stay awake on it, at which time they would go through a period where all their social phobia would go away and they would become extremely prosocial.

well, ambien... there is some potency to it. It definetly is not on the same level as Xanax or Klonopin. For some reason ambien causes me to .... just think diffrently, yet it could be the sedation effect and yes it can cause you to alter moods to socialize.
I clearly cannot take it anymore if didnt have to this rehab and told me no more ambien. Idiots, it works [not you, them].....
but i've been on ambien for about 2 years .... it will get you to sleep, with a mood lift. Before Ambien there was Halcion which is twice as potent as Xanax, but when ambien came out in 1993 .... no more halcion. It's intresting to see ... i guess lunesta is taking the sleeping toll for next sleeping pill.
sorry i ramble....
:)

I took ambien for many years and worked hard to stay in bed with my book once i medicated myself
the lack of inhibition is too extremei did, sometimes, take a half dose when i was in a state of rage and it would take the edge off but give me a headache laer on
i wish i understood why ambien is the only med to do this for me

ahha, i'm probably the Ambien King. It does help SP for 45 minutes until you get generally tired and go to sleep but for the first 15 minutes you experience a small sense of europhia which helps with the SP.
