Ok - It seemed as though I was gaining weight (about 8 lbs) when I was on 300mg of Lithium for 2 weeks. I wasn't exercising and was eating poorly - so this probably didn't help.
Doc switched me over to Geodon 40mg and back to the Adderall 10mg. Also Seroquel and Klonopin at night.
I am back to my irritable self. I miss my 300mg of Lithium.
Can you take Adderall with Lithium? Is 300mg of Lithium dangerous? I read all these things and am so confused. I just know that when I took it I wasn't irritable. The Adderall helps with motivation and slight depression. Plus, when I took the Lithium I didn't need the Seroquel at night to sleep. I could just take Klonopin.
Is Geodon safer than Lithium? Isn't 300mg of Lithium a tiny dose?
I was also trying to take 2000mg of Metformin a day, but it is making me exhausted. I think I have to drop back down to 1000mg a day of Metformin.
Any input on Lithium would help me. Will I get fat? Can I actually lose weight on it?
I am desperate not to be so mean.

I think it's a fairly low dose. Did you get levels tested? As for the adderal I don't know. But you could also try goggling drug checker add all meds and see if any interractions just a thought. I'm so sorry you feel miserable and confused . Know the confused feeling for sure. Phillipa

300mg of Lithium is generally a low dose. Of course it's the blood levels that ultimately count because people metabolize Lithium differently. I take 900mg of Lithium and my blood level is usually around 0.6, which is appropriate for augmentation for depression. Those with bipolar usually need a blood level of about 0.8 at least, from what I understand. Yes, high levels of Lithium (greater than 1.5 or something) can be toxic, but 300mg usually doesn't get the blood levels that high.

However you react to lithium at whatever dose is what is important. Forget about blood levels unless you are suffering from a severe form of mania.
I say take the lithium and make sure you take care of yourself and eat right(besides eating better and exercising will make you feel better anyway). IMHO, Geodon and klonopin are waaay worse for you than a low dose of Lithium. 300 mg is a very low dose. Lithium has neuroprotective and antiviral and antimicrobial properties. It also can promote neurogenesis. Go lithium.
Have you ever considered trying Concerta or Focalin instead of Adderall? I only suggest these two because they come with less risks long term and may be neuroprotective.
I'm guessing you do not respond well to antidepressants.
If you are willing and open to trying natural remedies, I strongly suggest you start taking fish oil if you are not already. I would also look into trying New Chapter Holy Basil. You can take it with your meds without any problems.

I tried and failed Concerta (caused acidy bladder - ouch). Focalin wore off too quickly and caused some emotional issues (crying easily). Although I may discuss Focalin XR with my doc and see if that may be less aggravating than Adderall.
Today I took only 5mg of Adderall and that seems to be better than the 10mg.

I think taking less Adderall is a good idea.
Yeah Focalin XR may be worth a shot. So I guess you became emotional after Focalin wore off? I meant to suggest the XR version in the first place.
So what about antidepressant? Natural remedies?
This is the end of the thread.
