Hello,
Has anyone has found anything that has helped with their benzo-withdrawal-related insomnia. (I don't have insomnia otherwise.)
I've been withdrawing from Klonopin since May 2009. I started at 2 mg and am down to .5 mg. It was a rough year with more side effects than I care to mention :)
I decided that from .50 to 0, I would compound the klonopin so I could taper in smaller increments. I have found that compounding is definitely a lot better, but that as soon as I start to taper--even just 2%-- I suffer from insomnia.
Apparantly, my brain doesn't like to have the level of klonopin adjusted. As soon as I drop the dosage at all, I just quit sleeping.
I have tried: melatonin, hops, passionflower, valerian, chamomile tea, and maybe a few other things that aren't coming to mind right now. (memory loss is definitely one of the side effects!)
Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you :)
Cindy

Hmmm...
I've remained on half of a .5 mg Klonopin because otherwise I wake up around three am. It's such a tiny sliver that it's hard to believe it makes a difference, but it does.
However, 3 am wakings were something that happened before Klonopin too.
I haven't found a solution to it.
Maybe over time the effect will wear off?

Maybe switch to valium low dose as lower lasting and a weaker benzo? Phillipa

Cindy,
You wrote,[...any suggestions...]
Hummmm. I looks like you want to be free from at least the effects of withdrawal in relation to insomnia while you are wanting to withdrawal completly from the drug. If that is so, and you have been trying to taper for a year, let us reason together.
It would be nice if one could withdrawal from K and have no effects while doing so. There is this plan and that plan that sound sweet in theory, but could be sour in practice.
Now there is a way that I know of that you could be free from the drug. It will tyake judgment, maturity and brains to come of this powerful chemical. But be of good cheer, there will be a helper in the way that I know of to see you to a new life, free from drugs and have a new mind to sing a new song.
I can not post that way here, but you could find it if you seek it.

Hello cindy567
Welcome to Psycho-Babble! I don't really have any advice as I've never had your problem, but I do wish you luck in withdrawing.
