Hi,
Does anyone else experience horrible restlessness? It's not really physical but more like my mind won't focus on a single thing, I can't concentrate enough to read, almost like I don't even know what to do with myself. It is this feeling combined with terrible depression and self-blaming.it is such an unbearable feeling.
Can anyone else relate? Any ways to cope with this?
Thank you,
Roslynn

In all honesty feel the same way. My only way to to ride my bike. Even that is boring but I have to. When I read my eyes just read so fast. It's like skimming and only can read in night at bedtime. Phillipa ps no med has helped but figure it's anxiety?

Is it akathisia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akathisia?
This can be just as bad as the depression. Are you on any antipsychotics? ADs can cause it too.

It doesn't sound like it. Akathisia is a form of extreme physical restlessness which is usually caused by antipsychotics. High potency neuroleptics such as Haldol cause akathisia very frequently.

Hi Phillipa,
That is exactly the problem when I try to read--my eyes are moving too fast and I end up skimming. Very frustrating, I love to read!

I got akathesia once from taking a high dose of perphenizine (and old AP). I couldn't sit still and felt like I was going to jump out of my skin. My p-doc said take some benedryl and it worked like a charm.

I don't know, I wish I knew what caused this.
