I took Ultram ER and regular Tramadol for tics in the mornings and wasn't tired, but I think it depends on the person. (It worked really well for my tics, by the way.)

Most people find Tramadol to provide energy and activation, often causing insomnia if taken late in the day.
Many people accidentally discover it to be the best antidepressant on the planet.
I would try it in a.m. to begin with. Feel it out and go from there.

Tramadol can be activating for some and cause drowsiness in others. I'd try it PM first off.

My doctor said she prescribes them together all the time.

> Thanks guysTramadol is a unique drug. It inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin, and its active metabolite is an agonist at mu opioid receptors. So its effects are a combination of an opiate and something that feels vaguely like a tricyclic antidepressant. Depending on which effect wins out, you may feel activated or drowsy. I have taken it together with Celexa, and there was an unpleasant interaction, but mainly at higher doses (I felt restless and irritable). I think the combination slightly increases the risk of seizure. Be careful in that some people like the effects and, like an opiate, there is the potential for tolerance and withdrawal.

The pharmacist warned me about serotonin syndrome because I take Cymbalta. She said taking tramadol with an ssri could possibly cause serotonin syndrome. But in general I was wondering if anyone has experienced depression confusion and frustration...because I have but I am not sure if it is from Tramadol..
