I started taking Zoloft and Wellbutrin again, which had been working well for me before I tapered off them and titrated up on Remeron. Neither caused intense anxiety before, but now I'm feeling it all day, every day.
The only difference is, I was taking the budeprion 150 XL, and now I'm taking a different generic SR--Sandoz, I think. Could it be stronger or more effective, thus causing me a lot more anxiety? Any thoughts appreciated.
I don't want to believe it's the Zoloft, since that has worked so well for depression in the past. Neither do I want to believe that the Zoloft has simply pooped out since I went off of it.

Since wellbutrin is activating and you're taking generic is it the same one you took before? As they do vary. Phillipa

Well buproprion is a rather activating agent, so your brain chemistry may have just changed a bit or you're still adjusting to it. I would think it would be more activating and could cause anxiety. But they say in medicine its the last thing you took -- the trouble is if you started both up at the same time its hard to sort out what is what without dropping both (probably not good) or sticking things out or switching out the buproprion to see if a difference can be seen

Zoloft can cause some start-up anxiety. What dose of Zoloft did you start with?

Do you think it could be generic? My pdoc is wary of generic drugs.

Both Zoloft and Wellbutrin caused my anxiety to rage out of control. Both are a 'no go' for me. I steer well clear of SSRI's and meds that increase dopamine.
Remeron only helped with depression, did nothing for anxiety.Hope this info helps some.

Hi azalea--
I'd started with 50 and gone up to 100 before, so that's what I did. I may have titrated up too quickly (after 1 week).

It's hard for me to know, but since that is the only change in a med regime that was working well for me only two months ago, I can't help but think that it's the difference in the brand of bupropion.
I've heard lots of accounts of the Teva brand of budeprion being less effective than the name brand or other generics. It might have been that I was tolerating that well because I wasn't getting as much of a dopamine rush as I am with the Sandoz bupropion SR.

Titrating too quickly could certainly be the culprit. Your hypothesis about bupropion vs budeprion is also a possiblity. Difficulty to determine at this point. One option to discuss with your doctor might be to discontinue the bupropion and see if your anxiety decreases.

It's possible you're getting to much seratonin. Look up "seratonin syndrome".

I assume you mean those two as a separate comment -- curiously enough Zoloft is the only SSRI to have some very slight blockade of dopamine.

It was apparently both. I switched out the bupropion and the anxiety lessened considerably, but not totally.
Now pdoc wants to put me on Lexapro instead.

Oh that explains the lexapro thread. Good luck on it. Love Phillipa
