Adderal /Parnate combo (SLS, anyone?)

Posted by Ant-Rock on September 5, 2008, at 19:40:32

Does anyone know if it is safe to cautiously add low-dose adderal to parnate?

Years ago my doc allowed me to add ritalin to parnate without any problems.

Any info would be much appreciated.

At one point, I was taking Parnate 120mg + desipramine 300mg + dextroamphetamine 20mg. I experienced no untoward side effects. One can never be 100% sure of safety when it comes to MAOIs. However, I know of nothing that would make Adderall more of a risk than Dexedrine.

Well MAS with l-amphetamine are going to be more peripherally active. Whether that is good or bad compared to d-apmhetamine just depends on what your blood pressure is like.

That's a good point. I think Adderall is more of a peripheral vasoconstrictor than is d-amphetamine. I hadn't considered that.

I had no problem with combining parnate and adderall.

Thanks for the needed info Scott.
I went back and re-read my previous post from earlier this week and realised my words came off a bit morose/offputting. I wanted to apologize for that.

I hope things are well with you.
You're the only name I recognise from the original group here.

Thank you for the info Nadezda.
If you don't mind me asking,
How did the combo affect you?

There is a case report of toxicity, but I was not able to find which amphetamine (D, L, or mixed) was the culprit.

Severe hyperpyrexia due to tranylcypromine-amphetamine toxicity. [Case Reports. Journal Article] Annals of Internal Medicine. 70(3):559-64, 1969 Mar.

Hi, Ant-Rock. Mainly the adderall helped my energy level, which was extremely low, due to the parnate (not the most usual reaction, but one that happens). I think it was partly disrupted sleep (never getting to deeper levels of sleep) and perhaps partly just some other side effect. I had a pretty severe case of daytime sleepiness and general druggedness t hough.

I don't know how it would affect you if you already were getting more of an amphetamine reaction to the parnate.

You know, just taking MOAR PARNATE can have effects pretty much the same as adding a stimulant. And no issues with getting a schedule II drug.
