I take Lyrica for neuropothy (nerve damage). I know that it is a newer form of the med Neurontin.
When I first became ill with psychological problems I was placed on Neurontin for a "mood stabilizer". I know both Neurontin and Lyrica are used to treat seizures and are prescribed off label to treat other illnesses.
So, if Lyrica is a newer version of Neurontin is anyone being prescribed it to treat a psychological illness.
Just curious

It's sometimes used for generalized anxiety. My pdoc prescribed it for anxiety a few months ago and it helped, but I had to stop it due to side effects. I was on Neurontin years ago and it felt different to Lyrica, but they are related.

I recall a lot of posts where it was being used both for stimulation and at different doses for anxiety. Withdrawal is supposed to be not good. Phillipa

It comes though as a controlled substance (C-V), and it does have some side effects, so does Neurontin.
Personally I wish I could have substitued it but I got the around 10% vision blur side effect, which Neurontin also can do. As they say, your miles may vary.
