I couldn't tolerate it beyond 3-4 weeks. My main symptoms have to do with general free-floating anxiety, and I felt that drug is antithesis drug for anxiety. Even though, I've heard it's the "gold standard" SSRI for anxiety, which is why I gave it two chances to work, but no dice. The stuff makes me feel disconnected and on edge even more without it.
But don't let me discourage you. Give it a good 5-6 weeks and if you feel the cons outweigh the pros you should reevaluate its use. JMO.

My Pdoc added to the lamictal that has helped me so much. I couldn't get over the hump completely and we decided that trying this was worth a shot.
I've been on it 3 weeks. It has helped the depression some but it has affected my sex life. And that creates the vicious cycle of the depression is better and the sex life has gone out of town.

Actually, many people seem to think Lex has less effect on libido than the other SSRI's if that helps. I heard some people take Wellbutrin in combination to combat the sexual side effects, but I could be wrong.

I guess it depends on what your priorities are too. As if the med worked I wouldn't care but that's me. Phillipa

>Yes, like when you are crawled up on the floor in the fetal position, and your own shadow even scares you, sex isn't exactly the first thing on the mind. But, as time goes by, we are lucky because even so, there are treatments for this, in particular testosterone treatment for both men and women.

it kiiiiilled my sex drive. and my ability to orgasm. this is not a HUGE priority in my life but damn ya know, considering i used to enjoy this. once in a freaking while would be nice.
might help with some of that unwanted energy too.
i also have a male friend that this drug effects his sex life.as to the other comments. yes when put into perspective, well of course its better than wanting to take S. action to yourself.
but that doesn't mean you need to loose quality of life along the way.but i thought there were some things that could help with this...not sure i can remember.
i would FOR SURE bring it up with your doc.

there are many other out there to use as supplement. i say if it's not your primary med to talk to doc about using different one.
maybe give zoloft a try.

I just always had a full life and the lowest priority was sex. I'd rather cuddle and feel close to another but then again that's me. I have to feel good to have the quality of life to have a full one. And I had many years of sex so I can do without it now. Not a problem in the marriage either. We both have low libido. Love Phillipa
