hi!
i've been taking stablon (Tianeptine, Coaxil) for ten days and recently found out i need to schedule a "wide area incision" surgery to remove a small melanoma on my thigh. ugh.
the stablon packet included a warning about taking this medication and anesthesia. can anyone out there give me more information on this?
thanks!

>I think the warning is overly cautious, but there is of course a slight theoretical risk that whatever anaesthetic agents the decide to use will interact negatively with the tianeptine; the chance that such an adverse interaction would be serious is even smaller. Anyway, considering the short half-life of tianeptine, it would be sufficient to discontinue it as late as one day or so before the procedure.

thanks so much for your support!
the surgery isn't scheduled yet but it will likely be early next week. i think i'll just discontinue stablon for 2 days prior, per the recommendation on the insert that came with Stablon.

The other thing, and I wouldn't begin to know anything about this, is how your progression after the removal of the melanoma may or may not be affected by Stablon, as against any other treatment or none at all.
This is the end of the thread.
