I think the warning is overly cautious, but there is of course a slight theoretical risk that whatever anaesthetic agents the decide to use will interact negatively with the tianeptine; the chance that such an adverse interaction would be serious is even smaller. Anyway, considering the short half-life of tianeptine, it would be sufficient to discontinue it as late as one day or so before the procedure.
