if that makes sense, i just woke up.
I only take 5mg and when I wake up, I am so ready to go back to bed. It makes me soooooooooo tired all day long. I read about people taking 20mg up to 40mg. Doesn't it make you extremely, extremely, extremely tired all day long? I take 5mg before bed because it helps me sleep, a bit.

I had to add Provigil to the mix because i would literally be dragging a** all day long! Not a great feeling. Try Provigil, but, be aware that not all insurance companies approve it because it's very expensive. But it's definately worth a try.
The only thing was during the evening, i guess the "come down" it made me a little more depressed than usual...so i got switched to Wellbutrin, it's a good AD [for me] and it doesn't make you tired.
good luck.

All the ad's wire me and make me feel like my head will explode with anxiety. Now I wonder could it be my body saying no you don't need an ad? Maybe your problem is life circumstances and its up to you to do what they say is unrealistic pull myself up by my bootstraps. I'm in a reflective mood I guess. Trying to make sense of all the meds. I know I'm anxious very anxious panic since early 20's and now 6l and nothing has changed. So do you all get tired from lexapro? Phillipa

I most certainly don't get tired; I wish. But I've only been exposed to the drug for a short time--Lexapro two months back when a month of use still was elevating my anxiety, now I'm in my first week with Celexa for another shot. Anxiety not so bad, but I take benzo's as I did with the Lex aborted trial. My sleep is still disturbed significantly.
I just want to give this stuff a good shot based on all the great reviews for anxiety. At the same time though, I've read many reviews complaining it doesn't touch their anxiety. Seems the same with all meds, however.

OMG!!!
Me too!
I only take 10 mg and have same problems as you with tiredness. Been taking it for 10 months.
I just started a new thread asking for suggestions for a new AD because of this.
I see the PSY Guy Thursday ;)
Good luck!

I am on 10 mgs and I c ould sleep all day long. I decided to go off when I read the thread about how ssri are suppose to make you feel, energic, happy, etc. I have never felt that way. I feel blah. numb, I don't want to do anything. I push myself to do anything. I hate it. So I decided to taper down. I see my doctor on Frid. I also am gaining weight. Now that will increase my depression. It has helped with the general anxiety. I am out of the deep deep despair type of depression and my T said with my dx that might all I will get. So I am not sure if it is worth it. I might ask the doc for something to give me some up. I don't know what to do exactly. On 5 mg. though I get a headache at the time I need to take the next dosage I think getting off might have some side effects but hopefully won't be as bad as cymbalta was. I don't think I want a new ad but something else. An upper....lol

For me, "dealing with it" meant switching to Prozac and tempering that with Xanax.
The buzz I got of Proz was way better than the awful knocked out feeling from Lex.
The reality is that all these supposedly similar drugs have VASTLY different side effects. So you become your own drug trial. Luckily for some of us it eventually works out OK. The very best thing to have is a pdoc who respects your feedback and is willing to be patient with you over time to find a solution that works.
Good luck

Nothing I tried to counter Lexapro fatigue helped, not caffeine, not stimulants... I just could not take this stuff.
If it's really bothering you, maybe you should switch to one of the 'dirtier' SSRIs, like Prozac. I found it much more energizing and motivating, even if it still caused occasional fatigue.

>Yup, think I will do just that. I am just afraid I will have problems sleeping at night. The lexapro has really helped with my anxiety but it keeps me in bed all day long, I don't want to do anything anymore but lay on my behind all day, and eat! I took Prozac yearssssssss ago, are the side effects nasty like Paxil? I couldn't handle Paxil for the life of me.

I never took Paxil, just Lex, Prozac, St John's Wort, and tried Zoloft. Prozac, and maybe SJW, were the only tolerable ones for me. I slept pretty well on Prozac and could even take afternoon naps. Fatigue got to be a problem after about 8 months on it and at about a year to year and a half, it got really bad. The first 6 months were great though.
It's still an SSRI, so you're likely to still have some fatigue, it's just considered the most energizing of the SSRIs. You can't live life if you're in bed all day long.
This is the end of the thread.
