Having lost my motivation to prozac, I want to ask you what can help me to combat amotivation and anhedonia. What helped you to arrest the sucking anhedonia that emerges as secondary to SSRI treatment? Please don't suggest amphetamine like stimulants because I can't reach my hands to them.

I'm in the same situation, I'm afraid -- at an adequate dose of Prozac, I feel practically boneless, just limp and sluggish. And that's despite taking Ritalin...
So, what to do to help? I'd look into Provigil, or Wellbutrin. Either might help counter the SSRI amotivation. Maybe going to an SNRI? Effexor, or Cymbalta?
I don't know. Those are the suggestions that come to mind. I hope they help.

I'm not sure that amotivation can be treated with meds.
At least I've had no luck.
The only ones with a chance affect my sleep adversely.

I know amotivation can't be treated with meds. But the anhedonia thing can be treated I think.
Any suggestions for treating anhedonia?
(Amisulpride doesn't help much, nor sulpiride. Regular dopaminergics eg. bromocriptine would rather bring back my depression.)
Once I tried reboxetine and it worked pretty well right after an hour or two after dosing. Then the good effect wore off to make me irritable, spacey and finally depressed, not to mention a side effect that I felt like kicked on my nuts!!

Tianeptine is good for anhedonia, but not for amotivation.
Maybe...
Rhodiola
Deprenyl

I have recently had good luck fighting amotivation and anhedonia. It may be a little premature to count it as a succes, but I am very optimistic at the moment. I have suffered from lifelong anhedonia and lack of motivation in extreme degree.
My meds at the moment are as follows:
Reboxetine 4 mg
Prozac 20 mg
Mianserin 60 mg
Amantadine 2 x 100 mg (added recently)I have noticed that Mianserin does not have the usual sideeffects when used in this combo (sedation and overeating). It just helps me sleep at night.
At the moment I feel fairly energic and motivated, completely different from anything I have ever experienced before. At the same time I feel very relaxed and see no sign of hypomania. Even my sexuality has started to wake up after many years of "hibernation".
I hope this can help you.

Racer are you still in remittance? Didn't SamE do the trick as the piece of the puzzle that was missing? Hope you're still okay. Love Phillipa

Mishal,
I currently take prozac 40 mg. It wasn't really doing much for my amotivation and mood. I added Geodon and it has helped with energy and mood quite a bit. I take 180 mg at bedtime. It works as a mood stabilizer. It's like I was on a low all the time with energy, mood, motivation, everything, and this is leveling me out to normal levels. No bad side effects. It may be worth a try!
