Hello all,
I've seen a ton of posts by people using Tianeptine (Stablon) and am having some trouble with it. I started just a few weeks ago with the typical dosage of 12.5mg 3 times a day.
I had great hopes for the stuff, and after about one week I felt like my depression was lifting. In a few more days it was gone almost completely, my ability to concentrate and sex drive were back for the first time in years! About four days after that, I crashed and the depression returned big time.
This has been really demoralizing and I'm not sure what to do. I've been on every drug out there, and none seem to work. Zoloft, Paxil, Nortryptaline, Neurontin, Strattera, Effexor, Lamictal, Zyprexa, Deprenyl, Cytomel (T3), Requip, and some others--I can't remember them all. Nothing works.
I have never experienced a lift like this from any of those other drugs, and what can I say--I desperately want it back!! I have read some posts where Tianeptine has stopped working for people. Has anyone out there used it over the long run and had this happen, only to have the drug kick in again later and work more consistently?
Is there any supplement that seems to help boost the effect (5-HTP, Phenylaline, SAM-e, etc.)?
Help!
Thanks for reading and for any feedback you can provide.

I'm on it and have my ups and downs. I have cautiously combined it with 2 things that haven't blown up in my face or shot me through the foot.
But whether that would be of any use to you is something else, because it wasnt that much use to me either.
You don't say how long you've been on it for.
What I tried was
mucana pruriens caps
deprenyl citrate 1mg sublingualYou wanna say how long you've been on it for both before you relapsed and after?

Thanks Declan,
I was on it for about 7 days when the effect kicked in, and then the 'lift' lasted 4 days. Perhaps it's placebo, but I doubt it for two reasons: 1) I've been on EVERYTHING, and if I was going to have a placebo reaction I probably would have had it to something else along the way and 2) I've never had an effect like this before from other meds, so if it was a placebo effect it was a very strong one.
I know that it hasn't been all that long since I started it, so maybe I had an early response and then falloff, and the med will pick back up. That's what I'm hoping anyway. As of now I've been on the Stablon 16 days total.
Thanks again,

I don't know if I have depression or if ADs treat depression (whatever it is) but my experience with tianeptine has been that it worked immediately.
There was sometimes a sense of nervous irritation. But I'm able to get out of bed, and compose sentences and stuff like that.
I suppose I could even work?
Drugs that take 6 weeks to work? (are of no interest to me).
But anyway, maybe you've got something else to me? Maybe you have a really low mood that takes a long time to lift?
I could describe myself as somewhat anguished and socially useless. Tianeptine has been good for that.
It feels sex neutral, or even better. It's a better AD than low dose deprenyl.
My sleep is still a disaster, but I see that along with mood as being an indicator of rotten health somewhere, somehow. So I have stopped drinking.
If I manage to give up benzos and the few molecules of methadone I'm still on, my sleep, mood, and mental state might well improve.

I was like old myself after alot of time, I had started to pass my exams in medical school after alot of hell, unsuccessful years, I wanted this marvelous feeling not to stop but It stopped. In my country a lot of doctors even didn't know there was such a drug. I had seen it on this forum after a lot of unsuccessful tries with SSRIs. Thank God I have found this drug. I managed to go back to medical school, I managed to study. But after 12 mounths(by stopping and working again, with some hair loss side effect) I have found myself searching " tianeptine stopped working" today. Yes It stopped working fully. I wasn't very happy, I wasn't sad or I didn't have anxiety attacks or depression either. I was like a cool man who works and don't criticize anything or anybody. I was like mission man who does his job. My concentration was at highest level after alot of times.Yes It stoped again but this time fully.I don't know what will I do. Maybe I go to a physc to write an SSRI. I hope I don't need any of them.
This is the end of the thread.
