How does it make you feel? More hypomaniac or sedating (ie. Valium)? Does it make you talk to anyone you want and not have any concerns. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cerebus. It's difficult to tell after not quite 2 weeks. Also some of the effects may be the Effexor wearing off. But I'm a bit louder, more confident. I feel like my thoughts are flying around and I'm talking too much but now I don't think people mind and stuff them if they do. There - I gave it away - the dysphoria. I feel a little hypomanic but dysphoric (irritable, angry). But the people I've confronted deserved it and I've put paid to a major problem I had of not confronting my boss about his Christian fundamentalism. But I did it fairly and he didn't mind!
Reminds me of Walt Whitman where he says something like: often progress in life is made when people square up to you and resist

In my experience with Nardil, it took quite some time for it to get to therapeutic levels. If it's only been a couple weeks, I'd give it a few more (depending on your dosage) before expecting anything significant in terms of benefits.
Personally, I didn't experience anything dramatic with Nardil, though it did prove effective for some time when it came to lessening the impact of my severely depressed periods. I have heard descriptions from others of tremendous improvements as a result of Nardil.

Neither. It makes me feel less depressed and more confident.

I don't know of any drug that would do that except maybe alcohol or something like that. If that's your goal, I think you may have a hard time finding a med to meet it. What it does do when effective is decrease depression and some anxiety, which allows one to function better, including socially.

I've been off Effexor 3 weeks and on Nardil 2 and something is making me do excatly what you describe, without the help of alcohol too.

That's great. I hope it will continue. Please keep me updated on your progress. I to have felt this hypomanic state when stopping one drug and beginning another. Unfortunately, it does last that long, maybe 1 to 3 days. I may begin Nardil again. I tried it once for a week and quit due to hypotension and extreme anger. I should have tried it a while longer. Thanks for the input and I hope that euphoric feeling continues.

yes but like you say it's often dysphoria and anger - and impatience. I hope that part fades soon

Do you think you might have done better if you had increased the dose more slowly?

> Do you think you might have done better if you had increased the dose more slowly?I did start with half the required dose at the beginning. I seem to be very sensitive to medications. I am currently on Paxil 20mg and Lithium 300mg at bedtime. Considering implementing Cymbalta instead of Paxil. It seems lately I have more nervous or anxious. I am calling my pdoc to discuss. Thanks, for all of the feedback.
