I'm trying Lamictal again for the second time. Lately , for no reason I'll be happy and feel like bursting into tears within minutes. I'm trying it for depression but I think it's making me sad. I'm currently only at 50mg but feel that same pattern as last time. Increasing the dose, feeling good for a couple of days, then feeling like crap. Anyone out there experience this?

It's supposed to be a mood stabilizer and used for depression now too as well as for bipolar. I am on 100 mg. for depression, but like you I do not find it very helpful for depression. Maybe if I stopped I would feel otherwise, but like you I can be happy one moment and feel like I am going to burst into tears the next. I was not like this before I started Lamictal. I would like to get off of it myself, but one has to be careful in that regard.Karen44

That's exactly what happened to me on three different trials. I never made it past day 4. The first couple days were very nice, immediate antidepressant. Then it turned into a depression much worse than where I had started. I couldn't stick it out.
In clinical trials there are a minority of people that experience emotional lability and suicidal tendencies.

The first time I took it Lamictal kept my mood rock solid - nothing could touch it. I took a break from it and this time it seemed to make me more emotional and unstable. The only difference was that I was taking benzos with it the first time.

Weaning off zyprexa. Now at 1mg. 450mg st johns wort. 300mg lithium orotate. Other people are telling me I seem a little better, not great, but better. I don't feel good at all, but I do feel less daily/hourly cycling. Other people see improvements that I don't see.

That's a good sign. I've never tried Lithium and sometimes wonder if I should. I have this low grade depression. I feel like I hold back with everything, relationships, work, whatever. I'm scared I'm going to get old and be in the same rut looking back at how I wasted my life.
