Mirapex off label

Posted by willyee on August 26, 2006, at 18:52:01

Just checking out some Unconventional medications and i see Mirapex,i also remeber seeing it a lot here.

I know even though it`s generaly a dopamine drug it still has some strong sedating properties correct?

Well my real question is has anyone used this and noticed any mood elvation or social benifits to it?

Mirapex does have antidepressant properties. It is a dopamine receptor agonist used for parkinson's.

I think some people notice fatigue over time with its use, not exactly sure why. It is not a direct sedative.

It is supposedly good for anhedonia.

Thanks i always hit that site for info, that was one of the more promising views, where as i seen some opposing mentions on how the drug is sedating, guess the brain can be pretty tricky,i just have a gut feeling/obessession that if im to find any true relief, its going to be through the use of an added unconventional drug.

Why i feel so strongly about this might be the success ive had with unconventional methods over standerd drugs, maybe im even just stubborn who knows, thx,im gonna do some more digging but i think this is gonna go on a possable list since i had success adding caffiene to parnate at first.

I've been using Requip (ropinirole) for months now; it works the same as Mirapex, and is approved also for restless leg syndrome. Perhaps mild sedation, but certainly not clearly; does improve anhedonia at doses of 1.5 mg daily up to 3.0 mg daily in two studies--check Pub Med. Have to increase very slowly though. Mainly has been tested to augment other antidepressants and reduce refractoriness and anhedonia/apathy. Sudden sleep attacks can occur with both Mirapex and Requip, but are rare at lower doses and non-Parkinsonian patients.
