My doc prescribed it because it's supposed to be non habit forming and stuff...it seemed to work at first, but now it's not working so well.
I was thinking about trying melatonin. I read it's not good for people with depression and autoimmune disorders...and i have both. I dunno. I just want to sleep normally for once in my life...without waking up all the time :(

My doc put me on Rozerem several months ago - but it was added to 100 mg Trazadone. I don't think it does much either - but I'm still taking it. With both meds I still wake up a few times a night but most of the time I do eventually fall back to sleep - that is - unless something has my brain twisted up - like a boyfriend. Then I barely close my eyes. I've also heard Melatonin can be dangerous.

Hi,
I've taken both melatonin 1mg, and Rozerem 8mg, on different occasions. They both helped me get to sleep, but both stopped working after 2-4 hours, leaving my sleep fitful the rest of the night.
Melatonin also lowered my mood, worsening my depression. Rozerem was fine for me in that respect.
If you haven't tried antihistamines for sleep, like benadryl or doxylamine (Unisom), you might give them a try. They're fairly low risk, over the counter medications.
Best of luck,

Can someone please explain what is the problem with melatonin and depression? Does melatonin aggravate depressive symptoms, or are there bad interactions with ADs?

I don't know what the exact mechanism is, but I have read that increased melatonin levels are thought to perhaps be involved with seasonal affective disorder. In the darker winter months, the body apparently produces more melatonin. I have also found that taking melatonin worsens depression for me personally.Todd

I'm thinking more and more these days that I have Fibromyalgia. :-(
One of the symptoms is disrupted sleep.
Nothing helps.
This is the end of the thread.
