This isn't a link. It is a topic. I am wondering if anyone has tried it.

Cecelia--did you have it done at a Dr.'s Office or just buy one of the home machines?

I trialed one from the Alpha-Stim Co.-they give you a month's free trial, after which you can return it for a refund (minus 10%), which I did. They claim it helps with depression, anxiety, insomnia and pain-did nothing for any of these. I figured it was probably the quackery it turned out to be, but I'm sure you, like most people here, understand about desperation....Cecilia

Well, I might just be stupid enough to try it as well! I would definitely want a free trial though. I found two sites online, but non offered a free trial. Do you have the website of the one you tried? Thanks!

Sorry, guess, I phrased that wrong, it wasn't actually a free trial, just that (probably in the fine print); they guaranteed a refund if it didn't help and you sent it back within a month. I got a refurbished model, but even so, with the postage back and forth and the 10% "restocking fee" I wasted $89.95. A miniature drop in the bucket compared to what I've wasted over the years on therapy, meds, rTMS, and other useless things in the futile pursuit of mental health, but annoying, nonetheless... Yes, it was from the Alpha-Stim company that Alone Ranger gave the link for. It was over a year ago-I don't know whether they still have the 30 day money back (minus 10% +postage) deal or not. You could probably get one on E-bay a lot cheaper, though of course without any money back guarantee. I start Emsam tomorrow-wish me luck, and I'm wishing you luck on whatever you decide to try next! OH, Good Luck!!!
Thanks for the information. It is cheaper on ebay, but more expensive in the long run if I needed to return it.
I'm also very confused about which machine to get as different companies have different products with different settings.
Alpha Stim 100 can be set at .5HZ 1.5HZ or 100HZ
Alpha stim scs can only be set at .5HZ
Another companies product, CES Ultra can be set at .35HZ or 100HZ
And still another, the HealthPax is .5HZ or 100HZ
I'm trying to wade through the research but often they don't indicate what HZ strength is used.
Guess, I'll start contacting the companies.

It may have changed, but I recall that the Alpha-Stim had 2 models, the cheaper one if you "only" had depression, anxiety and insomnia, and the more expensive one if you also had physical pain. I have all 4, so tried the more expensive one, but it did nothing for any of these problems. The website says these devices are FDA approved for these indications, but it doesn't mean they had placebo trials like is required for new meds, they were "grandfathered" in when FDA regulations changed, meaning they didn't have to show proof of effectiveness, merely show that they were similar to devices already on the market.
I put my 1st Emsam patch on about 2 hours ago-no side effects yet! Cecilia
