I have started taking one 37.5 tramadol with tylenol at night to both ease pain and to help me sleep. I was wondering if it could cause hot flushes or any change in mood?
I'm adding this on to the Ambien I already take and Benadryl. Yes, the doctor knows this.

Tramadol can cause flushing and sweating. Some people find it mood elevating.

Trade name is Ultram, in North America.
It's a weird drug, actually a failed antidepressant. It has SSRI properties, probably also affects other neutrotransmitters. Its pain-modulating properties seldom persist. People tend to very quickly accomodate this drug. It is really only useful in the short term.

It is an odd analgesic basically with some but very little affinity for opiod receptors making it non scheduled in the US and some other countries. It aformentioned also has receptor affinity to 5HT and therefore should be used in caution with other serotonin enhancing agents as serotonin syndrome could develop.
Its main use is analgesia. It has a black box warning about seizure potential. It could still produce opiod like dependence in those who are already susceptible or who have taken substantial amounts of those though that also is low.
