Ok,
Well let me get started.
I've seen alot people who smoke (not sterotyping) laugh, and be active. Well maybe because of the nicotine boost at first.
Ok, one time i was having a dissociative attack, i smoked one after the other, yes i cant belive it, but after it. I seemed in a better mood, not after the ciggarettes, just after. Im wondering if it inhibits the MAO-B, at high doses. I never smoke like that again. I dont like ciggarettes, but sometimes when im just really out of sort.. i have ADD but it doesnt help much.
Does anyone know

Its not nicotine itself, but it is certain compounds in tobacco called beta carbolines do inhibit both MAO-A and MAO-B
Beta carbolines are also in coffee, tea, and chocolate.

I don't think that beta carbolines are in cola's. Its independant of the caffiene. You can get MAO inhibition from decaff coffee.
I know that some studies show that heavy smokers have about 50% less MAO-A and MAO-B. So it could definately interact with a MAO inhibitor.
The beta carbolines are reversable inhibitors of MAO, meaning that their effects only last about 6-8 hours, and after that normal MAO activity resumes.
So to achieve steady MAO inhibition from beta carbolines, you probably have to smoke or whatever a few times per day.
