Hey I never did this before but I hope you will get a link to the new MAO patch. Remember this is my first attempt so it might not work. Hope this works, Fondly, Phillipa

Great work getting that link up Phillipa! Very informative. Thanks.
So would this mean that the typical MAO dietary rescrictions would not be of concern with a MAO patch? --Or just less of a threat?
Also, anyone have knowledge as to which MAO's would likely available in patch form (Nardil, Parnate?) and when they could be available?
And while I'm rambling off questions, might I ask if MAOI's have any place in ADHD treatment?
peace out

I'd like to point out that this reference is seven years old. It probably is referring to selegiline, which has been approved as Emsam transdermal patch.

Selegeline has been tested in persons who are intolerant of traditional stimulant medications in the treatment of AD/HD. A few preliminary studies have shown positive results.

It's my understand we're due to get news on EMSAM from the FDA by the 26th (this Sunday). The FDA got a three month extension for their decision back in late November. The news about the extension hit on the Mylan web site the Friday before the FDA drug act date (which was a Sunday as well).
If history repeats itself, we'll get some sort of answer or response on the approval by this Friday. I'm one that wants to give it a try before going to Nardil or Parnate for SP with mild depression.
It's my understanding there is nothing in the works to have either Nardil or Parnate in patch form (not sure why), just selegiline, but that it will work much differently than oral selegiline, who knows, we'll see.
It's my understanding that once approved it will take a couple of months before it will be available to the public and that Mylan and the other drug companies will push it faster if it's approved without the food restrictions for the 20mg dose. If you're interested in peeking to see if it gets approved go to www.mylan.com.

A commonly reported side effect from selegiline is insomnia. I wonder if the Ensam patch would be any different in that regard.

i think sometimes the popular press oversimplifies stuff and goes overboard on new meds. The FDA has had some concerns over the patch, so it isn't quite as simple as "the patch avoids all problems". Plus, we won't know for a couple years how the patches work out in the real world.
Still, cool article.

> Still, cool article. If the patch shows up soon, as is supposed to be the case, I will be giving it a try - have been carrying a script in my pocket for several months. I feel like I will know pretty quickly, a matter of weeks, whether it possesses any of the good and bad of Nardil. Personally, I am waiting anxiously for it to show.
This is the end of the thread.
