Do I really need a slow conversion? Or can i move directly to valium?
I've also heard that you may take valium in one dose, as opposed to other doses of benzos being 2-3 times daily.I'm looking for the longer half-life, and the easier taper in the end.

What dosage was that?
Is 1.25 klonopin approximately 25mgs of valium?
Take once or twice daily?

Brian

Can be taken once daily, once a full plasma has reached (less than a week), since it has a 24 hour half life. No harm in taking it twice daily but it will eventually adjust to an approximate 24 hour cycle regardless.

After in your system for one week, then what is the typical taper schedule?
Would it be too ambitious to drop 1mg a day?

One more question: Does Valium have less of a reputation of causing depression as Klonopin does? I for sure have Klonopin induced depression, and was hoping that it would go away by switching.

Ashton's site has led me to believe that Valium's half-life (esp. when including the active metabolize) is even longer than 24 hours... Out of curiosity do you have other information or were you just using 24 as a rule of thumb?

Same here, i've seen on many different sites, including ashton's, that it ranges from 30-200hrs.
If you took it in one dosage, wouldn't that knock you out? 1.5 of klono would, that's why i split it in to 3 doses.

mmm Valium used to be the thing. Like Klonopin, but it had its day.
Ask your doctor is there any other that last longer than klonopin. Mention valium or Ativan. It may be a good outcome.
People have asked before about how to talk to doctor, i used to give advice, but now i regret it, because one of them was an amphetamine and he never posted again, realizing he absused other meds, and beer. I should of never.
Anyway... sorry just thinking,
Just keep percistance, thats my logo.

>No, I was using the rule that my psychopharmacologist has seen in many patients, that give or take it is about 24 hours. There may be other metabolites but they're not as important necessarily.

> Would it be too ambitious to drop 1mg a day?1mg of Valium ? the smallest tablet is 2mg, you could score it. That would probably be about removing a 10mg tablet a week or so. If you have a large dose, I would say even 1mg every 2 days.
Generally the most economical of tablets is the 10mg tablet.
If you're referring to Klonopin, and you have a fairly large dose, that is an extremely bad taper. 1mg every two weeks maybe.

Yes, valium can be very depressing for some. I tried the switch very gradually (ala Ashton) from xanax to valium, and even with the slow crossover, I ended up very depressed and miserable on the valium. I tapered down from 3mg. xanax to 10mg. valium, then I had to reinstate on 1.5 mg. xanax.

Yes, i never had the depressive effects from xanax, only klonopin (perhaps the dopamine release). I was hoping that some of the depressive effects would go away from switching from klono to valium.

Just wondering if anyone was having luck with valium for social anxiety? Klonopin works great for it, but I too seem to have depression/motivation issues with klonopin.

I was given Clonazepam 2-6mgs daily, by a previous PcDoc for a while. I went to see a dikhed PsyDoc- who called me an 'addict'-dickhead-and i was transfered over to Diazepam starting at 40mgs daily, now after a year a lot less.
YES, Diazepam is the Benzo used to taper folks off "the evil addictive benzos"-haha
Cheers

Paul- Did you feel much of a difference when you did your direct transfer to valium from klono?

No!!
Clonazepam (after 18 months! was making me depressed and caused excess salivation.
.5mgs Clonazepam=10mgs diazepam (Valium).
I am now scripted 3, 5mg Diazs daily, and i take more or less that dose-(despite the fact it dose nothing for me now, cept' keep withdrawals at bay)
So to answer yr question NO there was no issue from transfering from 2-6mgs Clonaz to 40mgs-15 Diazepam-Damn benzodiazepines, i clearly member taking 2, 10mg vals b4 a dental appointment, then going to see a movie, which i remember in only bits n pieces.
Now i would have to take 50mgs+Valium+a few drinks to experience the same.
Cheers

I'm experiencing horrific depression while on klono, and weaning. I'm moving over to diazepam for easier withdrawal.
My question. I believe (cause it has in the past), that lamictal will help stabilize and lift depression during this taper.
One school would say, sure do it. The other would say that during the taper, you are correcting your central nervous system, and that adding other meds is messing up that balance.
Is it adding fuel to the fire? Adding meds to get off of meds?
This is the end of the thread.
