8 Ritalin pills daily=8Dextroamphetamine pills daily i guess so no great change there.
I have read of some ADD/HD people switching every month or so, to delay tolerance.
What changes can i expect on Dexedrine over Ritalin?.
Cheers

personally, I found amphetamines to be "smoother" than ritalin. I dont know how your meds are dosed, but mine was a Ritalin LA capsule in the AM, then a Focalin tab in the early afternoon. Its probably the smoothest combo you can put together (for ritalin), but it still isn't very smooth. Amphetamines were smoother and the "come down" was smoother, barely noticeable after a while. If you have depression, you might find amphetamines a little more helpful than Ritalin. I mean, you'll still be unhappy, just higher-functioning unahppy. You may need to adjust the dex, though. I went from 60mgs Ritalin to 40mgs Adderall, then up to 60mgs/adderall. I'm not sure how Ritalin--->dexedrine conversions go. Here in the US, its pretty common to do 1:1 switches, so 90mgs Ritalin=90mgs Adderall, for instance.
Good luck!

Paul you did it! go man! i take 30mg of dexedrine. Hear (US) it comes in 10mg tablets.
I knew if you be persistant it would pay off, now just be safe with it. ok... ROFL. Dexedrine is more potent than Ritilin. 40mg makes you more active, and postive. It lasts usally 3 hours.
Well post back.
Matt

My pdoc recently switched me from 20mg Ritalin LA to 10mg Adderall taken 3x/day. There are noticeable and discernible differences regarding Adderall that I'll list below:
** more mood elevating and emotionally stable
** reverses my tendency towards apathetic and lethargic behavior
** less harsh than Rit; in contrast, Adderall provides a stimulating "buzz"
** more active/productive during the day versus walking around dazed, confused and oblivious of my surroundings; so it's helpful during a depressive/anxious moment when I might otherwise give-up, ruminate or obsess about something trivial that I should forget
** less subjective restlessness, both physically and mentally
** higher, more appropriate, level of motivation and ambition
** less impulsive
Until the switch happens, it will be impossible to predict how you'll react. Dexedrine is a more potent cerebral stimulant than Ritalin, which could account for the reason your pdoc prescribed half the Rit dose for Dex.Just watch for palpitations and both increased heart rate and blood pressure, because Dex has a greater impact on the cardiovascular system than Rit.
Do you exercise? Your workout sessions may become more intense.
You might lose weight due to eating less, which may or may not be desireable.

My doctor told me that, in general, you'd need twice as many milligrams of Ritalin as amphetamines. For example, if you were on 40mg Dexedrine, you'd need 80mg Ritalin; however that ratio never worked for me. I was NEVER able to tolerate that much Ritalin.

I was much more withdrawn and quiet on Ritalin than on Dexedrine. For some reason, I was also very withdrawn on Adderall. On Dexedrine, I was more gregarious. I think Dexedrine is better as an antidepressant than the other two.
One side effect that surprised me, on both Adderall and Dexedrine, was that when they wore off, I had NO appetite, whereas when Ritalin wore off, I was ravenous.

I think its kind of hard to do stimulant ratios...what I personally found was the 40mgs/Adderall was smoother than 60mgs/Ritalin and resulted in less anxiety, more sociability, a modest anti-depressant effect, and a smoother come-down..also, the effects on my appetite were a little less pronounced; I ate less, but still ate, and there weren't sharp ups and downs in my appetite. Overall, I'd tend to say Adderall/Dexedrine is the better stimulant; Ritalin seems like it might be better for fatigue and boosting antidepressants than dealing with concentration problems on a long-term basis.
