My pdoc recently switched me from 20mg Ritalin LA to 10mg Adderall taken 3x/day. There are noticeable and discernible differences regarding Adderall that I'll list below:
** more mood elevating and emotionally stable
** reverses my tendency towards apathetic and lethargic behavior
** less harsh than Rit; in contrast, Adderall provides a stimulating "buzz"
** more active/productive during the day versus walking around dazed, confused and oblivious of my surroundings; so it's helpful during a depressive/anxious moment when I might otherwise give-up, ruminate or obsess about something trivial that I should forget
** less subjective restlessness, both physically and mentally
** higher, more appropriate, level of motivation and ambition
** less impulsive
Until the switch happens, it will be impossible to predict how you'll react. Dexedrine is a more potent cerebral stimulant than Ritalin, which could account for the reason your pdoc prescribed half the Rit dose for Dex.Just watch for palpitations and both increased heart rate and blood pressure, because Dex has a greater impact on the cardiovascular system than Rit.
Do you exercise? Your workout sessions may become more intense.
You might lose weight due to eating less, which may or may not be desireable.
