EMSAM Update

Posted by RobertDavid on November 21, 2005, at 15:48:43

Press release from Mylan Laboritories indicating the FDA has a new goal date of Feb 27, 2006 to make decision. I'm tired of waiting.....

i really don't think it's going to come out... i think the FDA is just paying lip service until we give up hope and forget about it.

Now what to try

I think so too. I've been waiting for such a long time. I'm not going to wait any longer. If EMSAM comes out and I'm not better I'll try it then, but really have my doubts that it will ever get approved.

I need something to add to with klonopin to help my mood, depression (plus any additional social anxiety benefits). I have been holding out for EMSAM being that it would be my first MAOI choice/try.

So I'm today I'm trying to decide whether or not to try Nardil or Remeoron (just about the only 2 anti depressants I haven't tried). Klonopin does work for the social anxiety (about 70% satisfied), but I just have zero zest for life, feel down. I think the Klonopin agrivates that.

Any impute from those of you that have taken Nardil (or other MAOI's) or Remeron would be great. I got to try something new...

Thanks

Remeron could be helpful. Weight gain is an issue; some people say that if you up the dose rapidly (say, aim for 30mgs/day instead of the standard 15mgs/day) you'll get little or no weight gain. I believe it tends to become a bit less sedating as the dosage increases as well. Some people report tremenouds gains using Remeron as part of an antidepressant "cocktail"; since its kind of in its own category, you can mix it with TCAs and/or SSRIs relatively easily. Wellbutrin+Remeron could be helpful, as could Effexor+Remeron. Provigil can help some; its better against narcolepsy than against depression, but it can relieve fatigue and provide some focus and energy..that will certainly help you overcome the "blahs". Good luck!

I lack focus and energy. My concentratoni sucks. Everyday tasks seem to be more effort then they should. I lack a zest for life. Nothing seems much fun. I feel like I'm on the outside looking in. Not a participant in life.

I think the klonopin agrivates it, but I need it for the social anxiety. I tried providial once and the first day it worked, but I came crashing down in the evening. Perhaps I should re-visit it.

I know I need to take something with the klonopin, but these "mini trials" are sure getting old. Anyway, thanks for all your comments.....
