Hi. I looked up some info on this as you asked, and found it interesting. Here's a link - www.provigilweb.org. Well, I tried html and that doesn't work, so I'm not sure how to make it a LINK.
I read through the basic information, and then the off-label uses, and then the link to its use in depression. I read that they are starting to see some use, as you say, to help with fatigue and some other things involved.
It looks interesting, and I'll keep it in mind as I work with my iatrist. It did say one of the inactive ingredients is lactose, and I am lactose-intolerant. It also mentioned side effects of nervousness and anxiety, and I already have WAY too much of those, so I'm not sure it'd be indicated for me, but it is awesome to see some new options. And to discuss with the iatrist, as perhaps those side effects may not be common.
Thanks for mentioning the med, and asking me to report what I thought. I see it as a quite possible option in the future for me, so we'll see. I hope that it helps you, if you are prescribed it, and would like to know if you see results.
I posted a reply here, as it fits this forum better. Not that your asking in the other thread was wrong; it created a great point for me to then reply over here. I'll post a link to my reply in a reply under our newbies thread.

Good source. Thanks for more info. I can't think of many pharms that will give you significant energy other than psychostimulants, and nervousness will always be a possible side affect. What is great about Provigil is how different it is from amphetamines (or so I hear anyhow). It stimulates without the "speediness" or jitters that amphetamines can cause. If your doc thinks it is a good idea, I would definately suggest giving it a try. I hope to as well. I have fairly severe anxiety problems and even dexedrine and the like did not make it worse. In fact, the confidence level I acheived from being motivated and doing things actually helped my anxiety.

>Hi
I take Provigil and its good. But I doesn't help at all with MY energy or motivation. I take it to combat Nardil tiredness and it keeps my brain 'awake'. And thats all.
It does increase my anxiety somewhat, general more than social. But it has no DA (Dopamine)increasing effects (that I know of). It has strong Noradrenergic effects. I find it actually 'numbs' the brain if the dose is even slightly too high. It also makes me more compulsive/obsessive/repetitive too.
I dont know what its like on its own. Might be totally different.Amphetamines of course greatly boost DA. Thats where the confidence boost comes from. Strength, stamina, the 'feel good' factor.
Its certainly worth a go. For me, Provigil has been a good tool, but nothing more.
Regards,
teck

I've been on Provigil (400 mg) for about 6 months. I like it. It works better for me than Concerta (72 mg) which I previously tried. Provigil is very good at eliminating my impulsiveness and improving my concentration. It also allowed me to stop putting my head on my desk every day out of tiredness.
Without meds, I have horrible anxiety. I think that Provigil has a calming effect on me. But it's hard to tell because I also take Lexapro (30 mg), Lamictal (200 mg), and a beta blocker (Toprol) for blood pressure.
This is the end of the thread.
