I personally have a lot of these symptoms and am bringing this to my doc's attention! Of course they will recheck my thyroid and blood work but it is interesting if you have severe fatigue. Hope this helps someone.

Okay now I want to know what is considered severe fatigue? If someone is under a lot of stress and has no desire to do anything is is very tired. And has gotten at least 8 hours sleep the night before. Fondly, Phillipa

i don't understand this bit:
"The yeast have genetically transformed some of the human cells that line the intestinal tract so that some of the human cells now contain yeast DNA"
this was from the candidafree.net page

oh no no, sorry, i don't mean to complain. thank you very much for sharing everything.
it just eventually always seems that there a holes in everything. although some people say they find what works for them, i am skeptical and wonder how much better they are really, truly functioning. maybe it is just because i haven't found anything yet, or any doctor that seems keen on the idea of really finding out whatever my problem is and solving it. god knows i am completely and totally in the dark here.

I am just desperate to not be fatiged every day, to feel better, to have a LIFE! what's that?
I am doing my own research on everything and anything i can find re: this fatigue at age 27. I know my body and this is not normal for me. I have felt like this for years now and each time i get rx'd yet another AD so i'm looking a bit deeper. My blood tests in May 05 were very abnormal but no further testing was done due to my state ins.. but since i demanded to be seen, i'm taking full advantage of it! My fingers are crossed ; )

Also, I read on this site for candida questions:
http://www.healthyawareness.com/candida_general/home.htm
I know that from what I've read, one way to tell if you have a candida problem is to spit (first i the morning) into a glass of water. Let it sit for an hour. If there are "tenticle" like things coming out of your spit- that's a sign you have a candida problem.
I tried it and sure enough, mine did that. My husband's did not.Gross? yes, I know. especially after all that "spit" talk on Social. ROFL

Hi,

I feel the same way about this. I've been to my local chronic fatigue support group and everyone seems to be on a perpetual wild goose chase and nobody's getting any better. I was on one for quite a while too. I've been to a number of alternative type doctors who did all these tests yet never seemed to be willing to rule anything out even when the tests came back negative. And when you follow their treatment plans and still don't get better they say it's because you probably aren't doing everything exactly right. I've just come to the conclusion that, for me, it's a matter of my brain and nervous system being out of whack. But that's just me...

I was diagnosed with CFS about 20 years ago and I got a lot better. Mine is definitely a virus. I presented with swollen glands, sore throats, nausea and fatigue mainly. I'd have flu like episodes with those symptoms and then it would get better and I'd feel fine for a while and then it would start again. Now I usually only get an episode if I get really run down but an episode can last as long as a couple of months. More often than not, I'm fine though.

I have no doubt that viruses can cause chronic fatigue. It's just if you check out the chronic fatigue websites they seem to come out with a new theory as to it's cause every other month. I've had my fillings replaced, I've taken antiviral meds, I've had chelation therapy and vitamin drips, I've tried anti-yeast diets and supplements, etc. At some point it starts getting old. (And I started getting old.) There are things worth testing. But if they come back negative, accept it and move on. Some of these doctors will drive you bananas. There are simple and cheap things to test for that can be a good indicator of health, such as urine and blood pH. But a lot of these docs would rather send you for a $900 test and when it comes back negative they'll say, "Oh that doesn't necessarily mean you don't have it..." Then what the heck did I take the test for? Let's just assume I'm positive for everything! Aargh!
Ok...I am a little bitter. I'm glad you've found some relief though... :-)

I understand. I felt completely hopeless about it the first few years I had it. I think the main problem is that they don't really know what it is yet so that complicates treatment. I also think that many different things are lumped into the same category and called CFS. My viral symptoms don't match with many other people's symptoms who are classified with the same disease. One result of my (or our?) illness may be the hypersensitive dopamine autoreceptors according to Dr. Goldstein. If that's the case, then I'm still fighting the disease on a daily basis. How long have you had CFS? Is it intermittent or constant? Have any medications or antidepressants helped much with this? I would say that my improvement should give you hope but we don't even know if we have the same condition.

Kara, I haven't followed this thread but has grapefruit seed extract been mentioned? It's powerful stuff and is even used in hospitals as a disinfectant.
I googled it with chronic fatigue and came up with numerous hits. Here's just one:

Hi,
> I think the main problem is that they don't really know what it is yet so that complicates treatment. I also think that many different things are lumped into the same category and called CFS.
Exactly. I think it's easier for them to do this than actually have to do some detective work and find out what the problem really is.
> One result of my (or our?) illness may be the hypersensitive dopamine autoreceptors according to Dr. Goldstein. If that's the case, then I'm still fighting the disease on a daily basis.
That's the premise that I've decided to go with.
> How long have you had CFS? Is it intermittent or constant?
They started throwing the CFS/FMS diagnosis at me years ago. Frankly, I didn't appreciate it because it gives them an out. There are a million possible reasons why a person might have fatigue and/or pain. It's their job to find the cause, not just to through some catch-all label on it. Whatever I have is not intermittent. It's been a slow downward progression with steep drop offs after particularly stressful periods. More recently I've had doctors tell me it sounds like MS and I should be tested. Considering that I've been telling them I have an uncle with MS, you think they would have brought that up sooner instead of sticking me with the CFS/FMS label. Not that I think I have MS. It just helps to prove my point that they use the chronic fatigue label to keep from actually having to look for the real problem.
> Have any medications or antidepressants helped much with this?
I need dopamine...dopamine!!!

Oh my God, wildcard. You have fatigue too? You also have a low thyroid? We also have issues with our parents. Wow!!!
I take a nap for 2 hours everyday that I am off of work. I dont know how you do it as a single mom.
I was checked for the Epstein virus. I also took some herbs to get rid of candida. I have gotten past feeling guilty about taking a nap. I figure if I am tired, my body needs rest.

My Rheumatologist who specializes in FMS/CFS says that if you show her any theory about the cause of FMS/CFS, you'll probably be correct for some patient who has it. She also feels that the infection "link" is usually secondary to dyregulation instead of causing it in most cases.
