Laugh factor

Posted by willyee on September 8, 2005, at 19:07:06

I recently had been thinking about how usefull these meds available to us are. Also are we so depressed we accept and welcome a comptly mediacore response at best, and feel good about that?

Are we getting real treatment available to us.Well a simple thing i thought about, laughter, yess maybe i have a good or fair there mostly, but when and how often was the last time i laughed,i mean truly laughed.

I remember trying the supplment Phenibutt, three hours after taking it the chemical snuck up on me at work, scared senseless sense i couldent see i did all i could to make it to my ending shift.

On the way home however,i started laughing,no reason, just laughing,i was laughing i believe at myself changing words in my head to a song i was listening to.

But the laughter honestly hurt,it was so intense my chest hurt. Now maybe not to such an extreme, but i thought MY GOD i have not laughed like that in almost a decade.

Now i stopped phenibutt due to the many many factors and never tocuhed it again, but i have thought of this.

I watch other people, and see them laugh with no effort, spontainously,me i push out a giggle or smile.

Is this just a personality trait,or has anyone else come to find they have not truly laughed in a very very long time.

I wonder just how effective can a ANTI DEPRSSANT be if i havent laughed in such a time?

You are right. Laughter is powerfull.

The best laughter situations can sometimes be hard to recreate.

My depression improves after a month of seinfeld therapy.

Actually, one of the ways that I know that a new drug is working for me is that I catch myself laughing again. There are certainly times where I go for a very long time without even a chuckle. I don't realize it's missing unless it is back.

Of course, I have experienced this a number of times, as I am on a meds/depression roller coaster. Sigh. Keep your fingers crossed, things seem to be on the upswing...

Best,
EE

Play Cranium

Invite a few friends over to play Pictionary or Cranium if you're the board game type - or even Charades. It's hard to keep a straight face when your friend is trying to imitate a buffalo. Sometimes I laugh so hard I can't breathe. That kind of laughing can only happen for me in a group setting and it's a huge stress release.

i think laughter only exists to trivialize how much trouble i have trying to have a life.

i laugh for no reason other than to be written off as some lazy *sshole that calls themselves depressed as an excuse. maybe theyre right.

Oh yeah i think u guys got me wrong,im not saying i dont enjoy things, family guy ADULT SWIM period, married with children re runs king of the hill seinfeld ....

I was just saying that although i enjoy these things,i have not had the ability to laugh in the same way i used to,since so many have responded im thinking it might just be a personality trait.

But yess i love howard,u gotta love a guy who can so easly make light of his johnson lol,i just would like a big hard laugh one day.

hey will,
i think i know what you mean, sometimes my laugh's feel like artificial, like i'm giggling from the prozac, i can remember before depression me and my friends would put on old eddie murphy tapes and be on the floor, real hard belly laughs, i don't get them much at all either anymore!!!
